1. Do something that reflects your relationship together
A big wedding is not for everyone, and that’s ok. A lot of couples may not agree with their families’ wedding traditions or wedding traditions in general. Some couples may not even like being the center of attention. These couples may also want a more casual environment for their wedding day.
It’s ok to think outside the box for your wedding and not want to fall within the status quo. That’s doesn’t make your wedding any less of a wedding. If you aren’t loving the idea of planning a big wedding, then try planning an elopement instead and see how you feel!
You should do something that reflects your relationship together. Do you love pie? Bring pie along for after you say 'I do', always wanted to stay at a cool Airbnb? Use it as your elopement venue! Love to travel? Plan your elopement along a road trip! The point is - the day is yours, so go wild and make it 100% you two!
It’s also important to note that you can plan an elopement and bring immediate family or friends along to your adventure. You don’t have to be completely by yourselves if you don’t want to. Again, do what makes you happy.
2. Make the entire day totally you two
This means starting the day with a slow morning, maybe even a steamy couples session followed by your favourite activity to do together. Getting ready either together or a part and then meeting in dreamy location that can only fit your nearest and dearest as witness!
From mini-road trips through beautiful places to train rides and hot air balloons to boat rides or off roading to brewery/winery visits and epic picnics, as you see, the list of things you can do is endless!
3. Bring a photographer along
If two people got married and no one took any photos, did it even happen?! Just kidding! But for real, the joy of eloping is saying goodbye to traditions and living in the moment with the one you love! That being said, having beautiful images from your day to share with family and friends after the day has ended and a tangible piece of the day is something that will grow with meaning over the years.
And of course if you want to keep things nice and small, I can be your witnesses too! I absolutely love being there to celebrate the love of two people and capture beautiful memories for you to cherish forever.
